System Spec – A Portable Freeware System Information Utility Version 2.65\n\nWhat is System Spec ?\nA utility to produce a specification of your system’s hardware and software.\n\nWith System Spec you can see, save and print a complete spec of your PC. This standalone, system information utility can also perform various windows functions. Additional advanced info includes CPU, drives, applications, display, memory, networking, internet, CD / DVD drives and more.\n\nPrevious new features.\nNew printer window which displays information about your installed printers and virtual printer drivers.\nNew process window and new task window.\nSystem Spec now works a lot better with Windows 98. The CPU usage and meters now work on Windows 98.\nCD / DVD information shown in the screenshot below. This information allows you to identify your optical drives and list their reading and writing capabilities.\n\nOne of the most useful new features of the CD/DVD information window is it’s ability to list the CD/DVD drive’s reading and writing capabilities. With many different CD/DVD drives around and often no capability indication on the front of the drive this feature can tell exactly what kind of drive is installed in staff, customers, friends, and other computers you may be working with.\nAnother useful feature is the button to analyse the inserted media. This will tell what kind of media is in the CD/DVD drive. This is useful for DVD drives which can write to both DVD and CD media types.\nCPU Info\nCPU information and layout shown below. The button circled in red launches the CPU meter window as shown above.\nCPU meter showing the CPU usage and history plus the CPU usage percentage.\nThe following are given about your CPU.\nCPU Brand\nCPU Chip\nCPU Family\nCode Name\nVendor\nManufacturer\nTransistors\nSerial Number\nCPU-ID\nExt Clock Speed\nCurrent Voltage\nMax Clock Speed\nSocket Designation\nData Width\nRevision\nL2 Cache Size\nL2 Cache Speed\nCPU Speed\nCPU clock cycles\n\nCPU Features\n3D Now! extensions\nEnhanced 3D Now! extensions\nEnhanced MMX extensions\nSIMD instructions\nFXSAVE/FXRSTOR instruction\nMMX extensions\nSerial number\n36bit Page Size extension\nPage Attribute Table\nCMOVcc(+FCMOVcc/F(U)COMI(P) opcodes\nMachine Check Architecture\nPage Global Extension\nMemory Type Range Registers\nSYSENTER/SYSEXIT extension\nProcessor contains an enable APIC\nCMPXCHG8B instruction\nMachine Check Exception\nPhysical Address Extension\nModel Specific Registers\nTime Stamp Counter\nPage Size Extension\nDebugging Extension\nVirtual Mode Extension\nBuilt-In FPU\nFDIV Bug\nDrive Information – Now displays SMART info\n\nSMART information is available on newer hard disks. It provides useful information and status of the hard disk. I think the most useful information it provides is the hard disk’s temperature. The temperature is important because a hard disk can fail or a least become unreliable if it’s temperature exceeds a certain value.\nOther SMART information displayed:-\nraw read error rate\nspin uptime\nstart / stop count\nreallocated sector count\nseek error rate\npower on count\nspin retry count\ncalibration retry count\npower cycle count\ntemperature Celsius\nreallocation event\ncurrent pending sector\noff-line un-correctable\nultra ATA CRC error rate\nmulti zone error rate\nTA increase count\n\nAbout System Spec\nSystem Spec is a self contained standalone EXE which can be run without installing. It lists a specification of your Windows PC without listing lots of useless memory address and unnecessary information.\n\nThis utility can be used for comparing the specifications of different machines. The spec can be outputted to a text file or printed to a report.\n\nIn this new version the spec can be saved to a CSV file so that it can be opened in programs such as Excel.\n\nExport to HTML\nAs well as export to CSV System Spec can now export the system information displayed on the main system to a HTML file. This HTML file can then be uploaded to your website to show off your PC’s Spec. To export to HTML go to File – Export to HTML. The HTML output looks like the main screen and report. Click here to see an example of the HTML output.\n\nUsed on Forums\nSystem Spec can be used for posting a spec of your PC on Internet forums simply by clicking the info to clipboard button and pasting it in your forum post.\n\nUsed for Insurance\nA printed spec of your PC can be stored somewhere safe and used to give you details of your PC and it’s hardware for an insurance claim. The spec can also be saved to a floppy disk as an alternative.\n\n\n\n\nSystem Information Shown\nComputer Name\nUsername\nIP Address\nMAC Address\nWindows version and service pack\nWindows Serial Number\nInternet Explorer Version\nMemory\nCPU Type and speed\nCalculated CPU Speed\nSound card type\nVideo and virtual video adapters\nScreen Resolution\nNetwork Present\nNetwork Adapters\nAC Power Status (for laptops)\nBattery Charge Status (for laptops)\nTime Zone\nCD / DVD Make and model\nCOM Ports\nLPT Ports\nMouse capabilities\nHard Disks\nHard Disks Serial Number\nBIOS Date\nPC Serial number\nManufacturer\nPC Product\nPCMCIA (Laptops)\nUSB ports\nFirewire ports\nMotherboard\nModem\nWindows function such as shutting down and run can be performed from the System menu.
